INJURY
Muscle Strain: A muscle strain is a stretch, tear or rip (complete rupture) in the muscle.
SIGN & SYMPTOMS
There are three levels of Strains:
MILD – Mild tear/strain. The individual may experience some pain and disability with use of the leg. There will be minimal swelling and bruising.
MODERATE – Partial tear. The individual will feel moderate pain during activity. Some noted swelling and bruising, with flexibility trouble.
SEVERE - Complete tear of the muscle. Walking will be very difficult and may require crutches or another walking aid. Swelling, bruising and muscle deformity may also be noted.
