Quad & Hamstring Strains

Muscle Strain: A muscle strain is a stretch, tear or rip (complete rupture) in the muscle.

There are three levels of Strains:
MILD – Mild tear/strain.  The individual may experience some pain and disability with use of the leg.  There will be minimal swelling and bruising.
MODERATE – Partial tear.  The individual will feel moderate pain during activity.  Some noted swelling and bruising, with flexibility trouble.
SEVERE - Complete tear of the muscle.  Walking will be very difficult and may require crutches or another walking aid.  Swelling, bruising and muscle deformity may also be noted.
